About English Class

Hello my classmates,

I think that the English IV class in this university is very good. I had a terrible experience with English III, because the teacher was too strict and not very empathetic.  But at this level of English, the teacher has been very different. I think she understands our process with this language. I think that even though I could not attend some classes this year because it was the year of disasters in my family, anyway I have learned important things.

Post on the blog is my favorite activity in the English class. With the blog I have been able improve my writing. Also, I think with the videos I have greatly improved my pronunciation, and the attitude with which I speak the language. In the first video I was very nervous, but in the third video I think I spoke more fluid and with more attitude.

I think I need to learn more vocabulary, because they often I do not know how to talk about certain topics. I think I can improve hearing more music in English, watching English movies and reading stories or comics in English.

Indeed, out of college I do not use much language. Sometimes I read certain documents, or I see subtitled films. Also, sometimes game to try to translate English songs and singing them in Spanish and this game is very entertaining.

Also, I think that I lack fluency when I try to speaking English, and I think I can improve this with practice, so from this week, Claudia and me started to practice speaking.

I hope to approve this level of English!

2013!

Hello everybody!

Today I will talk about this year. The truth is that this was a good year for my. Because, I learned a lot about my career, my talents, and this has made me very happy.  

This year I started to give lessons of Introduction to Psychology in an institute, and really this was a beautiful experience of personal formation. I think that have discovered new skills. I love teaching of my knowledge.

This year, also I started working in a Foundation that fight against the violence suffered by women. In this Foundation I make Informative talks and workshops about different topics related with the violence of gender. In this work I have learned a lot about how to apply my knowledge appropriately.  Furthermore, I love the topic of gender and feminisms.

But, the things have not gone well for me in some areas of my live, for example: This year, my family and me we move of apartment in Ñuñoa, and it is becoming difficult to pay for rent. Live in Ñuñoa is more expensive. We have to generate more revenue.

This year I was unable find a paid job. Earlier this year I had plans to travel this summer. But I think I cannot travel because I could not raise the money. In a few more weeks I get a job.

An important event this year was my sister’s inauguration in obstetrics. This is your first year in the career of obstetric and she fell for this career. I must admit that in my sister’s ceremony. I felt very proud, and I cried a lot, because is my little sister. 

Movies: "La Cacería" & "Amour"

Today I will talk about the movies I've seen lately in the cinema, I also will try like to comment on these films:

The last movie I saw in the cinema was “La Cacería”, a film directed by Thomas Vinterberg (a very good Director contemporary).  The main character is interpreted by the actor Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), who also won the award for Best Actor, at the Cannes Film Festival.  Vinterberg in this film manages to envelop us with paranoia, collective suggestion and fear of pedophilia. As in Festen, the director does not need to make explicit the events, he manages with great script and excellent scenes generate strong feelings. You can find this movie in the cinema "El Biógrafo".

I also saw "Amour", a film directed by Michael Haneke. Something that I've always liked for Michael Haneke is that he doesn’t understates to the spectators, and makes several sequences shots with the camera still at a point where you can not see everything that happens in the scene. Michael Haneke typically shows us the perversity of reality in his films, and this does in this film, where an elderly couple lovers, who have shared all his life, now share death. This movie is no longer in movie theaters, but can buy it at the bridge of FACSO.

Soon I hope go to the cinema to see a Chilean film called "Las cosas como son," directed by Fernando Lavanderos, and also I want to see "Paradise: Love". Soon I'll tell you about them.

ECO-CONSCIOUSNESS

Hello classmates

Today I will talk about environment, eco-awareness and taking care of our planet. I think that this topic is very important because the planet is severely damaged and people live as if nothing happened.

I think there are no known places to teach about environmentally friendly practices, because the Chilean state has not been made responsible for this problem. But there are websites, organizations, places of recycling, etc.

I'm learning some recycling habits, rather I am learning to take care of the planet, for example: I no longer use plastic bags, I do not chew gum, I do not use plastic bottles, I try to reuse paper, etc.

My boyfriend and I have not car, but even so we prefer to walk than take a bus... we have not bicycles yetbut we hope buy us soon. Walking and cycling also makes us good to the health.

I'm not part of any environmental organization, but I sympathize with many of these organizations, because many of these are fighting against the exploitation of natural resources of Chile. I think that in Chile, the politicians and the rich with their companies exploit the natural resources of our country. They care about making money, and kill nature that belongs to everyone. This is why these organizations are important.

I have many plans for the future regarding the green living: I would like to have dumpsters for recycling; I would have a vegetable garden, and solar plants.

¡The people of Santiago mainly lack ecological awareness!

My first video camera

Hello everybody!

Today I will talk about the biggest gift to me as a child. The most prized possession of my childhood was a very small video camera. I have always been very drawn to cinema, like my father, for this reason my favorite aunt gave me her video camera.  

She gave me her video camera in my graduation day of primary education. And I was very happy because I loved take pictures in important moments, but now also I could record in these moments.

From that memorable day, I recorded all the important moments in my life, for example I recorded my sister’s kinder garden graduation, and after I recorded the family’s celebration, and I think I did many good recordings.    

But today my camera is a very old camera, because my first camera needs videocassettes (photo 2), and today all cameras are digital. For this reason, I don’t use my camera, and I hope very soon buying other better camera.  

I always remember my recordings, because they were my first film creations. Today, me and my boyfriend we make with our cell phones recordings. We make these recordings on any time of our daily lives.

We hope to make a video documentary with these recordings, and when the documentary is ready we would like to project it in a special moment of our lives.

“Child sexual abuse victims are being failed by courts, says NSPCC”

Today I will talk about an article related with my career. This is: “Child sexual abuse victims are being failed by courts, says NSPCC”, and your link is: http://www.theguardian.com/law/2013/oct/05/child-sexual-abuse-victims-failed-court.

In this article addresses about  the "Sayings" of  National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), that says: the child abuse sexual victims are not being given the help that they need in the judicial process, for this reason, many children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, that is, suffer a secondary victimization.

Defense attorneys are often very aggressive with children; even some lawyers have called these children "liars".

In the judicial process these children reviving traumatic events, for this reason is necessary an intermediary. Is necessary humanizing the judicial process because they don't understand this justice intimidating and daunting.

Actually, just 2% children receive personal guidance, while more than 50% suffers stress for this judicial process, with panic attacks, self-harm and difficulty sleeping.

In this article it is proposed mandatory training for legal advocates who work with child victims of sexual abuse. In this way the judicial system may ensure the welfare of children. The welfare of children cannot be harmed by the pursuit of justice.

The techniques that are being used to protect the welfare of children in the trial are: use intermediary, recordings, give the evidence behind a screen, etc.

My Jobs and Responsabilities

Hello everybody!

Today I will talk about my jobs and responsibilities. I am a student of psychology in this University, but I also do other things:

I work in a foundation, called “Sanidad Integral”.  This foundation works to fight gender violence. In this foundation I work doing workshops and papers about gender violence, masculinities and others relevant topics.

Also, I am part of a Christian Reflection Space, called “ASA”. In this space, we reflect about the social problems and our role as Christian face these injustices. I am monitor of this space.

Additionally, I am part of an Observatory, called “Observatorio Iglesia y Sociedad (OIS)”. In this observatory we have research nuclei, like: memory, gender, youthfulness, and finally, social movements.  I belong to the nucleus that studies the youthfulness. In this nucleus I contribute with my knowledge of psychology.

Also, I am doing classes about "pastoral counseling", in a theological institute. I teach some psychological tools to theology students that will soon become in pastors and leaders of their churches. So, these students can cope better with the problems that have their churches, especially the problems associated with power relations.

And Finally, I am helper to two subjects of the career of psychology in this university, this are: “Education and Poverty” and “Adolescent Offenders”. 

Cinema and Me

Hello my classmates!

Today I will talk about my love for cinema. Well, I like cinema since my childhood. My father and me have always  gone to the cinema, watching movies in the cinema was an especial moment.  At present, sometimes I go to the cinema with my father, because he doesn’t have much time, he is always busy working. In addition, today we don’t have the same cinema preferences. But, when I go to the cinema with him is very nostalgic. Now, I have a new partner for cinema things. He is my boyfriend, he loves cinema like me, and the cinema has united us.

Today, I like many film directors, who are really dissimilar like: Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Ingmar Bergman, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Pedro Almodovar, Lars von Trier, David Lynch, Emir Kusturica, Fritz Lang, and many others.

 I love cinema, I like reading about cinematic techniques, cameras, scripts, directors, genres, etc. I like to be aware of all the good premieres and contemporary films. I do not know if one day I can study filmmaking, but for now I like self-education.      

France, Simone de Beauvoir and Feminism

Hello everybody!

Today I will talk about the country that I would like to visit. The truth, I would like tour my country, before meeting another country. But I would like to visit France, because it is a country that is used as a backdrop in many films; because is the country of romance and the country of great artists and geniuses; Also, I think the French language is the most beautiful in the world. My boyfriend tells me romantic phrases in French, and I love it. Also, I love Italian food, especially the noodles and sauces.

I love Simone de Beauvoir, a French woman, feminist and philosopher, and I would visit the places that she visited, I would like his house and his grave.

In many years, I would like to go to study in France. France is a good place to specialize in gender, because this country is very important for the development of feminism. France is not only a beautiful country, also is a good country for cultural, social and intellectual.

My Ideal Job

Hello my classmates:

Today I will talk about my ideal job. Really, I have many ideal jobs very connected with my career: Psychology. For example, I would like work in attention to victims of violent crime, I would like work teaching about gender-based violence in schools, and I would like work in prison, in Crime prevention and social reintegration of offenders.

And the qualities and skills that I need for these jobs are technical knowledge about:  gender-based violence and the relationships of power and subordination in general, Interventions to reduce harm from the violence (in the victims) and the prison (in the offenders), and finally I need technical knowledge about the education and consciousness about gender-based violence.

I think that this works are very good jobs, because this works are often socially invisible and undervalued, but are very revolutionaries y it can generate important changes.

I think that is very difficult to find these kinds of jobs, because are jobs that no one wants to do.  

My First Semester

Hello classmates, today I will talk about the first semester this year.  During my first semester I studied many things: I made a subject about “Comparative Religions”, in a religious institute, because I thing that is a topic very interesting. I'm interested understand and know about others religions.

Also, in the last semester, during my free time, I saw many movies, in the cinema or in my house. I like the cinema, I like read about cinema, I like learn about film directors and yours cameras and yours technical management.   

In the last semester, my most important challenge was pass the course of English 3, because the subject is very difficult for me, and I have finally arrived. My most important problem in this semester was the death of my great grandfather, because was a very difficult time.

And finally, the most important change in the last semester was my family’s new home.
